Ancient Oak wines are family-farmed and native-ferment. Their vineyards are farmed by the families that own and live on them, including their family. Founder and owner Melissa Moholt-Siebert is the winemaker, using native-yeast winemaking she learned from 10 years of making Ancient Oak wines alongside Greg La Follette.
Tasting Notes:This wine is medium-bodied, with bright red berry and earth flavors, scents of red currants, cranberry sauce, chocolate-covered cherries, and hints of wile thyme and truffles. Finished on a perfumed note framed by fresh, fine-grained tannins. As a blend of different clones as well as different neighborhoods of the Russian River Valley, elements of each combine to produce a classic Russian River Valley Pinot Noir with high acid, generous texture, luxurious mouth-feel, and great depth. There are both red and dark fruit flavors, and earth and high-toned aromas, all wrapped up in bright acidity, and agile yet powerful tannins and texture.
