About OWS

OWS is the creation of 30+ years in the food and beverage industry. What started as Oakton Wine Shop in 2011, a shop in which our guests, staff and community helped create, has now evolved into Our Wine Shop.
Here, you will find a collection of stunning wines, beers and gifts. In addition, we are paying homage to the partners we have worked with, broke bread with and created memories with, and will share those with you, our guests, as if you were sitting in our homes.
This is a continuation of what you helped to create, so with that I say, "Thank you for your continued support"

Chef Joel Valente

Chef Joel began working in restaurants in his hometown of Rochester NY at age 18. After working for some of the best restaurants locally, he went to NYC to begin another chapter. He started working for Chef Daniel Boulud, then went on to work for other notable chefs George Mendez, Jonathan Benno, and the then Batali and Bastianich group. After roughly 5 years and in the height of covid, Chef Joel moved to Virginia to work at The Inn at Little Washington. He worked all savory stations and was promoted to Chef Tournant where he stayed over a year. From there he took an Executive chef role opening The Red House Tavern. He spent 3 years building a lively dining scene that was well received for being innovative and local centric. He now joins OWS as a Culinary leader and innovator.

Ash Ahluwalia

Ash joined the OWS team in March of 2025 and brings a wealth of experience in the food and wine industry. He was the chef in one of the top country clubs in Northern Virginia, and the owner of an incredible restaurant in Great Falls, VA.
