Chappellet Cabernet Franc Napa Valley California 2021

The Chappellet Cabernet Franc is a traditional Bordeaux blend with Cabernet Franc at its base. The original vines were planted in 1989, making Cabernet Franc a relatively new addition to Pritchard Hill. This variety thrives on the hill’s volcanic soils, where conditions are ideal for developing ripe, concentrated flavors. The wine was bottled after spending 22 months in French Oak barrels (60% new). 

Both elegant and intense, this wine showcases Cabernet Franc’s natural complexity with with effusive aromas of red currant, blueberry, black tea, mountain sage and roasted coffee, as well as hints of cedar and cigar wrapper. On the plush palate, flavors of wild berry, anise and white pepper, are underscored by a silky texture and seamless tannins, with a note of earthy richness adding sophistication to a long, beautifully balanced finish.
