Since the beginning of my career, I have been a fan of California wines. When the opportunity to work directly with wineries in Napa Valley came up I jumped at the chance. I helped get these wines distribution in the Virginia and D.C. markets and hopefully beyond.
The Fowl Play wines are made by Mario Sculatti. The brand was created to recognize their stewardship of the land and the responsibility of protecting the integrity of the Napa Valley. "Fowl Play" is the homage to the sacred ecosystem that makes the valley survive. A symbiotic relationship between vintners and land.
The 2013 Napa Red is a blend of 85% Cabernet and 15% Zinfandel which is aged for 18 months in neutral French oak barrels. This creates a wine which exudes a feminine elegant nose of red fruit and bramble, a bouquet that is completely intriguing to indulge. On the palate, the mouth feel is more reminiscent of its Bordeaux cousins than a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. However, all tannins on this blend are incredibly silky; exhibiting a flawless smooth mouth feel and a finish that lingers Flavors are intense red fruit driven!
