Blend of Sangiovese (60%), Cabernet Sauvignon (20%), Merlot (25%).
The Poggio al Commissario, together with the Cessa del Civettaio, extends for 2.2 hectares; exposed to the north east. The grapes, harvested manually, after the thinning in July and the selection of the bunches during the harvest, are vinified separately in 30 hl steel tanks and in 38 hl barrel vats. Refines in oak barrels for at least 18 months. The blending of the wines takes place a few months before bottling; bottled without being filtered and then refined for at least 10 months in the bottle.
A beautiful wine which shows blackberry, black raspberry and sweet cherry aromas and flavors take center stage with hints of herb, leather, licorice and spice. A great wine to drink on its own or with food.
