J Christopher Pinot Noir "Volcanique" Dundee Hills Oregon 2019

J. Christopher is owned by Ernst “Erni” Loosen, the internationally acclaimed winemaker behind Germany’s Dr. Loosen and Villa Wolf estates. Erni has a lifelong passion for Pinot Noir, and Erni recognized in the early 1990s that there was something very special going on here in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Erni became an avid collector of Oregon Pinot Noir, visiting the state often and establishing Erni's U.S. import company here in 2003.

The Volcanique bottling is sourced from their favorite volcanic soil vineyards in the Dundee Hills AVA. Home to the first Pinot Noir vines ever planted in Oregon, the Dundee Hills are iconic and established the Willamette Valley as a serious wine region. The deep, well drained, volcanic Jory clay soil gives us beautifully savory wines with purity and a finely focused structure.

A beautiful balance here between bright red and cherry fruit, silky tannins and energetic acidity. The wine feels silky and full in the mouth.
