I visited Phelps winery many times and always had an amazing time, their long time ambassador - Claude was the perfect host who imparted knowledge and always made sure you had a great time. When smelling a cork he would offer you a plate, a knife and fork to ask if you would like to taste the cork too? All jokes aside this is a serious wine with pedigree. I have been fortunate to taste almost every vintage since 1990 and what comes to mind with each vintage is consistency, elegant, longevity and iconic. A wine which will benefit from time in the cellar and perfect to age for a child's 21st birthday.
