Round Pond Estate, owned and operated today by the second generation of the MacDonnell Family, is a 468 acre Rutherford farm and winery that specialized in the creation of pure, expressive wines, artisan food, and unforgettable experiences – all from the heart of Napa Valley. In addition to a state-of-the-art winemaking facility and 362 acres of Rutherford vineyards, the estate includes 5 acres of gardens, 12 acres of olive orchards, and one of only two olive mills in the region. The family also owns a special 10 acre vineyard in the famed Oakville bench. Located in the heart of the Napa Valley, for more than a century the Rutherford region has been recognized for producing red wines of incomparable opulence and elegance. Although measuring a mere six square miles, this coveted winegrowing area is home to some of the oldest and most storied wineries in the United States. Within this community, we are neighbored by such acclaimed wineries as Beaulieu Vineyards, Caymus, Cakebread, Honig and Frog’s Leap.
Tasting Notes: This wine’s aroma leaps from the glass with essences of shaved coconut, lime zest and lemongrass. The entry is clean and focused; grapefruit evolves into lime and lemon. Honey and orange blossom on the rich mid-palate rolls into notes of cedar in the crisp finish.
Pairing Suggestions: Goat Cheese, Shellfish, Grilled Chicken Breast Panzanella Salad
