Founded in 1988 by Neil and Maria Empson, Toscolo was a labor of love for the Empsons who wanted to express their longtime passion for the Chianti region. They called on friend and world-renowned winemaker, Franco Bernabei to help style the wines, combining fruit and finesse. Neil and Maria Empson have always had a passion for the Chianti region in Tuscany. In 1988, they decided to act on that passion and founded their own winery, Toscolo, to make Chianti. Even the winery’s name is a homage to Tuscany; Toscolo is an old Italian Renaissance word for “Tuscan Boy.”
Tasting Notes: Lovely straw yellow color with golden highlights, intense, fresh and fragrant aromas as well as a pleasing, flavorful, and well-balanced palate recalling citrus, apple, pear, honeysuckle, sage, white flowers and a characteristic almond finish.
