Bodegas Jaro Sed del Cana Ribera del Duero Spain 2006
The estate of El Quinon was originally a clerical property. It passed on to private hands in the 19th century in a historical nationalization known in Spain as “Amortizacion de Mendizabal” (1845). It is located in the village of Pesquera de Duero, in Valladolid provence, above the road that goes from Pesquera de Duero to Valbuena de Duero. The total surface is 108 hectares (267 acres), but only 65 of them are vineyards. Tempranillo is the most planted variety, with a total of 60 hectares, and it shares the vineyard with some 2.5 hectares of Merlot and 2.5 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Sed del Cana 2006 is just now breaking into the best to drink part of the drinking curve. Made from 100% Tempranillo, aromas of minerality, and balsamic notes lead to a palate of juicy red and black fruits which are balanced by fine tannins and rich acidity. Drink now through 2033.
