The oldest wine estate in the Bordeaux region, planted in 1300 when it was presented to Bertrand de Goth upon his appointment as Archbishop of Bordeaux, by his brother, Berald. It received its name from Bertrand’s papal name Clement V on is election in 1306. While it stayed in the possession on the Archbishop’s until the French Revolution in 1789. It passed through several other families until the current ownership under Bernard Magrez. Bernard owns several prestige properties in Bordeaux, Rhone Valley and more in France.
The Pape Clement 2015 is a blend of 53% Merlot, 46% Cabernet, remainder is Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Medium to Full Bodied wine with supple tannins, rich fruit, showing beautifully now but aging potential for another 10 years. Notes of cranberry, blackberry, cedar, graphite, tobacco notes, with a hint of clove on the finish.
