The Henri Bourgeois Sancerre's are always consistent and delicious. These old Pinot Noir vines are grown on a rich flinty terroir of the Sancerre appellation, specifically located in the village of Saint-Satur, and formed during the Eocene period 56 million years ago. The name "ES-56" actually means Eocene Silex 56 million years ago
This ruby and garnet-colored wine develops very ripe red fruits aromas with hints of morello cherries, plums and a touch of vanilla. The old vines and low yields produce a very concentrated and well-structured cuvée heralding good aging potential. Under ideal conditions, this wine could age a decade or more.
