Domaine Henri Bourgeois Sancerre Les Cotes des Monts Damnes France 2022
The Henri Bourgeois Sancerre's are always consistent and delicious. The vines are grown on the famous Côte des Monts Damnés, which has been cultivated since the 10th century. Its south-facing Kimmeridgian marls terroir is made of thousands of small comma shaped oyster shells (ostrea virgula). Yields are deliberately low, with high-density cultivation and grass between the rows.
THIS WINE IS CERTIFIED ORGANIC.
The near-vertical slope of the Monts Damnés produces wines that have delicate tropical fruit (a proof of ripe Sauvignon grapes) and vibrant citrus aromas. The palate confirms this fruitiness and brings a nice and clean mineral note. Served at 10-12°C, this very concentrated wine expresses its strong personality. With three to five years of bottle-aging, the wine gains roundness, richness and complexity.
