In 2012, after creating single varietal examples of the main stay Priorat grapes in 2011, Jonas Gustafsson on a January visit to the winery encouraged her to explore the possibility of blending her best Garnatxa and Carienya into a cuvee with no Syrah. It was during this blending process Sylvia noticed a few barrels just did not fit into the blend. The decision was made to make these barrels into a separate bottling. The decision proved to be a good one as the two cuvees are unique and both spectacular in their own ways.
The Cuvee #1 is the main blend, a blend of 67% Garnatxa and 33% Carinyena. Deceiving when first opened as if it is a mild Priorat wine, but once opened for a little bit the full force of the wine becomes apparent with its blackberry, black raspberry, blueberry notes coat the palate and linger for a long long time. As it develops the minerality and fruit become more rich and dynamic.
