After more than half of her life making wine at various wineries in Spain, with 10 years in the Priorat region, Silvia decided to start her own personal wine project which she feels is the highest aspiration a vine grower and winemaker can have. She chose Priorat because it is her region and it has a wonderful llicorella (Catalan for slate) soil that brings a touch of iron and deepness to the wines. Because of this, Silvia decided to make wine which shows both passion and power, and by producing only limited quantities she was able to devote more focus to the wine itself, rather than worrying about production issues as well.
En Números Vermells is a project that began with great enthusiasm in 2008, with the vinification of a single barrel, which resulted in the first vintage of wine on the market. The passion for wine drives a very artisanal production in a small garage in Torroja. The most important thing is to take care of a very carefully selected raw material, where the varieties, vineyards and slopes are worked and managed separately. This allows, when deemed appropriate, for special batches to be bottled, always prioritizing ripe fruit, minerality and the depth that our very special llicorella brings.
At this stage the wine shows a very intense but delicate color with a great sense of purity showing really fragrant fruits, flowers, fresh almonds, lemon and dusty slate. While on the palate it offers good intensity, purity and a great sense of minerality.
Absolutely love Yalumba Viognier The Virilgus that we were introduced to by OWS Wine.
Bryan at OWS introduced us to this wine we had never had before. Knowing that I prefer dry whites, Bryan thought I would like it. He was wrong, I love it! We initially bought six bottles and came back for a case! No sweet after taste I find common in Viogniers.
