Eva Pemper was born and raised in Croatia, where she grew up in a wine making family. Her parents were her inspiration to go to winemaking due to their talent and passion. She moved to New Zealand in 2012 and following part of her dream to travel and fell in love with New Zealand, the wine, the people and the places.
Due to the war and unrest in Croatia it was not easy or feasible to continue the family business in Croatia. She moved to New Zealand to continue the family legacy and sharing their story.
One of the fundamental inspirations of “Eva Pemper” wine is the significant influence of Croatian heritage in New Zealand’s wine industry. This history saw families coming here from Croatia over a hundred years ago with just their suitcases, following their dream. Today this dream has resulted in some of New Zealand’s highest profile wine industry people and brands that are well-known and respected here and around the world. The “Eva Pemper” brand is all about premium quality wines targeting restaurants, wine shops, wine bars and online wine sales.
The grapes were machine harvested and field destemmed before being gently pressed to stainless steel holding tanks for fermentation at cool temperatures with selected yeast strains with the aim to preserve the aromatic and fruit flavours from the vineyard.
Classic, powerful bouquet of Marlborough SB with a crushed stone and ripe citrus fruits bouquet, some tropical fruit with mango and dried pineapple, there’s a distinctive tomato leaf quality adding breadth and power. Delicious on the palate with a satin touch, contrasting acid line then flavours of pineapple and red apple, citrus and some cape gooseberry then fresh herbs.
Absolutely love Yalumba Viognier The Virilgus that we were introduced to by OWS Wine.
Bryan at OWS introduced us to this wine we had never had before. Knowing that I prefer dry whites, Bryan thought I would like it. He was wrong, I love it! We initially bought six bottles and came back for a case! No sweet after taste I find common in Viogniers.
